{"id":119020,"date":"2025-12-11T10:40:13","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T10:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/\/?page_id=119020"},"modified":"2025-12-11T10:44:52","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T10:44:52","slug":"carbon-reduction-plan","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.trainingbytesize.com\/nz\/carbon-reduction-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Training Byte Size Carbon Reduction Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Commitment to Achieving Net Zero<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Training ByteSize is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, in line with UK government targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Baseline and Current Emissions Footprint<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are in the process of measuring our baseline carbon emissions, covering:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scope 1:<\/strong>\u00a0Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scope 2:<\/strong>\u00a0Indirect emissions from purchased electricity, heat, and cooling.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scope 3:<\/strong>\u00a0Indirect emissions from supply chain activities, including business travel and employee commuting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our initial assessment indicates that the majority of our emissions come from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Energy usage in our office spaces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business travel (flights, commuting, and accommodation for training sessions)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Procurement of digital and printed training materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Carbon Reduction Targets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Training ByteSize has set the following targets to reduce our emissions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce business travel-related emissions by 30% by 2030<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transition to 100% renewable energy sources for our operations by 2028<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Planned Carbon Reduction Initiatives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To achieve these reductions, we are implementing the following measures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Energy Efficiency:<\/strong>\u00a0Upgrading office lighting to LED, optimizing heating and cooling, and improving IT equipment efficiency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Renewable Energy:<\/strong>\u00a0Transitioning to a renewable energy provider for our office and exploring options for carbon-neutral web hosting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sustainable Travel Policies:<\/strong>\u00a0Encouraging remote training delivery, reducing non-essential travel, and offsetting emissions for necessary flights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sustainable Procurement:<\/strong>\u00a0Prioritizing suppliers with strong sustainability credentials and reducing printed materials in favour of digital resources.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Employee Engagement:<\/strong>\u00a0Promoting carbon-conscious practices among employees, such as carpooling, remote work, and sustainable commuting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Governance and Reporting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our Carbon Reduction Plan is reviewed annually to track progress and adjust initiatives where necessary.
