APM Chartered Project Professional (ChPP)

In order to become a Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) you will need to meet the following criteria:

1. having a proven track record delivering projects, programmes, portfolios or a key control or enabling function and;
2. having up-to-date knowledge of current practices and methods and;
3. being actively involved in the project profession

 

APM have partnered with a number of different organisations to conduct the formal assessment required before the end APM interview for chartered status.

One of these reputable organisations is APM Group International. APM Group offer a certification called Praxis. There is a foundation and practitioner level.

Praxis covers the full breadth of guidance needed for effective project and programme management within a single framework – Knowledge, Method, Competency and Capability – Praxis is the most efficient means of delivering projects and programmes.

You will need at least one of the following to attend the bridging course:

• PRINCE2® Foundation or Practitioner Certificate
• MSP® Foundation, Practitioner or Advanced Practitioner Certificate
• APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) Certificate
• APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) Certificate
• PRINCE2 Agile® Practitioner Certificate
• PM4SD™ Foundation or Practitioner Certificate.
• PMP®
• PgMP®

 

Once you have achieved the Praxis certification you start to complete your application form for Praxis Framework Professional (PFP).

You will complete this application form with our expert ChPP mentor who will be your guide every step of the way.

The beginning of this application form asks questions like why you’re looking to apply, who you are and your background. You will then need to supply evidence of competence across several different areas. Over several calls you will work with our mentor to discuss your experience and strengths and weaknesses. This is a reflective learning approach which is a very effective way of extracting the best responses for your application form.

Your application form will be in constant review to ensure your answers are meeting the criteria for the end assessment.

You will then attend a 2.5 hour interview and you will make a 30 minute presentation. Upon successful completion of this interview you will move on to your submission for Charter to the APM. Full guidance will be provided for the interview from your mentor.

The process is straight forward with the APM – you will complete a short online application and then attend an interview. This interview is to verify you understand ethics and you are serious about continual professional development. This interview is not trying to fail anyone, they’re just looking for clarification of your intentions.

The total cost for Praxis Framework Professional through to Chartered Project Professional is £3500 + VAT per person.

• 3 day Praxis bridging course
• Praxis Framework Professional assessment and interview
• APM route 2 interview
• Working with a like minded Cohort to a chosen timescale (ChPP applications take place at set dates)
• One to one coaching and group sessions with an experienced Praxis Framework Professional and ChPP
• Building the application form (This will consist of a number of feedback sessions all laid out for you)
• Feedback on your responses
• ‘What does good look like’ templates
• Presentation templates
• Help with arranging and presenting the required materials to the assessor
• Award of PFP
• Preparation for the ChPP Interview

At the end of the process you will have achieved:

• Praxis Practitioner
• Praxis Framework Professional
• Chartered Project Professional

Is the APM ChPP right for me?

APM Chartered Project Professional status can be applied for by anyone with experience of leading the delivery of complex projects. This can include any role associated with the delivery of complex portfolios, programmes or projects that can evidence practical application of the competences needed.

Applicants will have spent five years or more working within a project delivery environment and will have gained experience across a broad range of project competences.  Candidates will come from all areas of industry across both public and private sectors.
