How to project manage your Christmas shopping

For the majority of people, the build up to Christmas is a hectic period with stress levels running high. Each year we vow to be more organised and each year this vow falls flat!

As a Project Management Training organisation, we felt it was our duty to provide all last minute Christmas shoppers’ with some basic project management principles to ease the tension!

  • DEFINE what you want to achieve throughout the day. What exactly do you need and who do you need to buy for? A list is essential
  • Now you need to focus on the SCOPE of work. Where do you need to go and what time do you have to complete this? Why not produce a ‘work breakdown structure’ highlighting which shops you need to attend, your budget etc.
  • PLAN PLAN PLAN – Once the scope has been achieved, break the day down into manageable areas. Always allow a float for any unexpected time delays (coffee break!)
  • ENJOY the day. Follow your plan and you will be fine!
