The Praxis Professional demonstrates your extensive project management experience in order to become an APM Chartered Project Professional, and is one of only two ways to achieve Chartership status.

In addition to holding your Praxis Framework Practitioner certification, to become a Praxis Professional you must hold at least 5 years’ experience, with a proven track record of delivering projects, programmes or portfolios in a management, control or enabling role. Some of the projects, programmes or portfolios you have worked on must exhibit characteristics of complexity.

You must also have a breadth of experience in 20 Praxis Framework Professional competencies and an advanced technical knowledge that enables you to confidently evaluate and analyse current practices and methods.

What is the assessment process for the Praxis Framework Professional?

With the Praxis Framework Professional you will demonstrate your experience of adapting and applying PPM functions and processes on projects or programmes that exhibit characteristics of complexity.

  1. Application submitted. → Eligibility and experience verified with referees → application accepted
  2. Application assessed. → Evidence assessed against technical knowledge and professional practice criteria → presentation and
    interview scheduled (or application referred)
  3. Presentation and interview. → 20 competencies assessed against technical knowledge and professional practice criteria → assessment report completed with recommendation → result issued

Is the Praxis Framework Professional right for me?

To be eligible to undertake the Praxis Framework Professional assessment you must fulfil the below criteria:

  • Hold the Praxis Practitioner qualification
  • Be professionally active for at least 5 years, with a proven track record of delivering projects, programmes, portfolios or a key control or enabling function
  • These projects, programmes or portfolios must exhibit characteristics of complexity
  • Have the required breadth of project experience to meet the requirements of 20 Praxis Framework Professional competencies
  • Have an advanced technical knowledge and able to confidently evaluate and analyse theory of current practices and methods

If you do not hold any Praxis Qualifications, but hold other certifications like PRINCE2, MSP or APM PMQ, then you can take the short Praxis Bridging course, which will give you the Praxis Practitioner Qualification, which is the pre-requisite to taking the Praxis Framework Professional.  This route provides a cost effective way to gaining your ChPP.

How is the Praxis Framework Professional assessed?

There is not a traditional exam associated with the Praxis Professional, instead it is focused on demonstrating your experience and expertise. You will need to complete the following:

  • A written submission including a summary of the case for you becoming a Praxis Framework Professional and summaries of your notable projects
  • A portfolio of evidence
  • A virtual presentation to an assessor and a professional discussion lasting a minimum of 2 hours
  • Referee(s) endorsement
